Setting a sustainable pace as the Wheel of Fortune gains traction.
Friday, March 20th is the Spring Equinox, a time of seasonal balance when light and dark are (mostly) equal, marking the transition from winter to spring and ushering in longer days and warmer temperatures. This is an important marker in the cycle of the year, celebrated by many in the Northern Hemisphere (in the Southern Hemisphere, people observe the Autumn Equinox).
Keeping with our card of the year, the Wheel of Fortune, I wanted to tie these themes together. At the beginning of the month, we shifted our focus to visible movement, action, and direction. As the Wheel starts to gain momentum (especially as we near Aries season, which also begins on March 20), it’s important to keep our energy balanced and sustainable. Without setting an initial pace, it can be easy to burn out too quickly.
This requires a balance between speeding up and slowing down, managing directed effort as well as rest and recovery.
The tarot spread below is designed to help determine where you are directing most of your energy and where you might become depleted. To start, shuffle your deck and then turn your cards over until you find the Wheel of Fortune. Remove it, along with the cards before and after it, and place them on your working space.
The card in front of the Wheel of Fortune represents an area you may be focusing intently on, something demanding your effort or attention. This is where you are actively pushing forward or directing your will. You might ask yourself whether this effort is intentional or habitual. Is it aligned with your goals and ambitions?
The card after the Wheel of Fortune represents an area that needs replenishment in order to sustain your movement forward. Remember, the Wheel is about cycles, ups and downs, action and recovery. What does restoration in this area look like?
